"I recorded the guitar parts in Imagine with this children’s electric guitar"

Before I flew to Barcelona I sold my main guitar to focus on my studies. In less than four months living in Barcelona I could not avoid the personal need to make music. I wanted to look for a guitar without leaving all my savings in the music shop. So I started looking for a guitar on an ap where you can buy and sell second hand things. Scrolling down I found this cheap and small electric guitar which at first sight made me think it would suit my budget and my size. I’m not joking I am not tall at all. Anyway. I immediately contacted the seller, arranged a time to meet and made the transaction. The seller was a very friendly woman, she told me the guitar was a gift she received for her 15th birthday. I told her I will send her a link of whatever music I make with the Hannah Montana guitar.

As soon as I arrived in my room I put the guitar on my desk to started to adjust it. I filed the nut, then I adjusted the bridge, the pick up and the truss rod. Finally I changed the strings. Nothing fancy, I just tried to bring out the best sound I could from the guitar as it was. To be honest it surprised me. It is not my favourite guitar sound but in the end it adjusted to the guitar sound I had in mind. Which to me sometimes is more important than showing off how fancy a guitar sounds in a song. I don’t want to say I dislike good guitars. If I had a larger budget to choose a guitar, for sure I would choose a Fender American Original 50s model.

In the end, adjusting the screws a bit made it possible to bring out the best character from a cheap guitar without stopping the most important aspect, which is to create the music which makes us happy. The expensive guitars will come later. Or at least I hope so.
