Homefront grant
This year has been a tough one for a lot of artists. Here in Australia we started the year with the worst bushfire season within my lifetime followed by COVID-19 and the related lockdowns. So for this reason I am very grateful to ArtsACT for making opportunities available to local artists through this messed up year.
Right at the beginning of the lockdown the local government released plans to provide additional funding opportunities to Canberra based artists through a program called Homefront. I was lucky enough that my application was accepted! This money will go towards our next music video project which will be released later this year!
I would like to say to any artists out there who might be considering applying for a grant to do it! Over the years I’ve written a lot of applications for grants, exhibitions, residencies etc. and most of the time I am unsuccessful. However I learn things from every single application and presenting ideas in this formal way has helped me learn to better express + simplify my ideas. Besides as every PE teacher ever told me: “you’ve got to be in it to win it!”.
